Office Staff

Empty trash in the office as you’re leaving the club after your shift. Just take the bag out of the plastic bin, tie the bag together, and bring it to the dumpster and push it in. You don’t need the key to unlock and remove the chain, you can push in most trash bags just by lifting the lid of the dumpster. We want the next guy who comes in to have a clean office.

Empty the trash inside the court area. There is only one trash bin. If people are playing, wait for them to change sides, or take a break, before you go in and grab the trash. If nobody is playing just grab the trash prior to ending your shift.

Walk around the locker rooms and pick up any towels, trash, and water bottles that people leave. Place used towels in the washing machine. If you think there are more than 5 towels in the washing machine, run it just like you run the washing machine at home.

Refill paper towel and toilet paper. There should always be one roll of each on the shelf in each bathroom.

Replace water jug when empty. If it’s too heavy to lift, ask a member for help pushing the new one on.

We have a new cordless vacuum cleaner! Please use it once during your shift to vacuum ball dust on the courts. If people are playing consistently throughout the day, vacuum at the end of a reservations, as the new group goes on. If people seem annoyed by us cleaning, then just leave it. No need to spend more than 3-4 minutes on this. This is not supposed to be a super detailed court surface cleaning, it’s just to get the ball felt up from the courts. I use the vacuum with no attachment to it.

Turn off all lights, also in the bathrooms, if you have the closing shift.

Lock all doors, also on the Brimmer & May side. Put the wood board up to ensure the door is locked solid.

Bill the people who are playing on the courts during your shift. Any guests are charged to the member who made the reservation, unless the players tell us differently. It’s a good idea to wait until they finish playing and ask the players on the way out how they want to split the court fee for the guest, and also the guest fee. The basic idea is that the person who reserves the court pays the court fee for the guest, and also the guest fee, but that the guest then pays that person back. However, often our members want to split the costs for the guest.

Make sure the total amount charged to all players add up to the hourly rates:
# Non-Contract time 1 hr: $46
# Non-Contract time 1,5 hr: $69
# Contract time 1 hr: $42
# Contract time 1,5 hr: $63

Most of our staff at the Covered Courts, also work at the Cricket Club in the summer. The bigger Cricket Club has different departments to take care of the grounds/courts; to make it look nice and take out the trash; service the members by making court reservations for them and answer any other questions they may have. At the Covered Courts, we only have one person at the time to do all this.
